LOS MONJO / ASPIRINA INFANTIL - 7" Ya a la Venta!
Metadona Records - Met.08
Abril 2012
620 copias en vinilo 7" negro.
Portada serigrafiada.

ASPIRINA INFANTIL 7". MRR#342 (USA).
ASPIRINA INFANTIL - "Dificil Olvidar" EPRapid Punk/HC with nice hooks, quick changes and to the point by keeping all the songs slightly over the minute mark. The vocals compliment the music nicely and this band has done a good job on their first release. The winner on this EP is "Divide y Venceras" which brings later FREZZE to mind, cool. (MS)

Reseña. Break It Down. Gadgie Fanzine (UK).
BREAK IT DOWN “THREE SONGS” DEMOA nice letter accompanied this listing previous projects as OLDER THAN DIRT, CEREBROS EXPRIMIDOS , BAD TASTE (of Spain!) and the long defunct but wonderful PARADE OF ENEMIES. That last one pricked up my ears as they were an awesome band that came up to Boston many moons ago and thrashed us to death. This Anglo-Hispanic punk band, however, are far removed from dual vocal screaming craziness and plough a far more melodic furrow. Opening track of the three is not as rough and tough as I would have expected but “Corporate Nightmare” ups the ante somewhat and plays out like a melodic SUICIDAL TENDENCIES stomp and closer “Heard It All Before” rounds things off in a tuneful tantrum. Quite a refreshing take on melodic punk and you can download it for free if you go online here:
www.myspace.com/breakitdownhardcore but if you get the CD it’s a well put together job with a stickered disc and proper good sleeve and shit. Far more impressive than a CD-r with felt tip writing on and a slip of paper with the songs scrawled on that some consider worthy of the altar that is the review pile for GADGIE.
Reseña. V/A El Garito Cafe. MRR#333 (USA).
V/A – “El Garito Café Vol.1” EPNot much information to be had about this record, but it appears to be a compilation of bands associated with a café in or near Mallorca. The bands are CEREBROS EXPRIMIDOS, BULLETS, LOS MALDITOS and MURDER IN THE BARN. CEREBROS EXPRIMIDOS are a little on the metallic punk side, riffing in a MOTORHEAD style although the vocals are decidedly less gruff. BULLETS´sound is filtered somewhere between STIFF LITTLE FINGERS and the CLASH. LOS MALDITOS reminded me of the MONOMEN with their surfy twang, and MURDER IN THE BARN is channelling early SOCIAL DISTORTION. A cross-section of various punky styles then, representing what seems to be a vibrant scene. (AM)

Reseña. Kalashnikov. MRR#333 (USA).
KALASHNIKOV – “12 Temas” EPWithin a few seconds of putting this record on I was remembering I FICHISSIMI, an Italian band that I hadn´t though about in roughly forever. Something about KALASHNIKOS´s stightly melodic skate-core/hardcore style just totally reminded me of them. This does sound kind of Italian in the sense that it´s got really aggressive vocals and the band has a willingness to do goofy experiments, like random acoustic breaks, that most others wouldn´t necessarily try. There are political lyrics, but the delivery is so infectious that it´s never heavy-handed. 12 Temas is a cool record and further proof that Spain has got it going on in the punk department. Major recessions may be bad for everyone else, but they sure seem to inspire some good fucking punk (for what it´s worth). (AU)

Reseña. Cop de Fona. MRR#331 (USA).

COP DE FONA – “Estafats I Traïts” EP
These Spanish punks have a sound that´s not too far off from LIMP WRIST or VOETSEK in their early days. Solid, screaming hardcore punk with some nice gang choruses and a busy bass player who lends an ´80s Euro HC touch to the proceedings. Five songs at 45 RPM that leave you wanting more. I´d definitely recommend picking this up if you´re into the whole No Way Records scene or if you have a taste for noncookie cutter ´80s revival hardcore. (AU)
Reseña. Holocausto Pomada. MRR#331 (USA).

HOLOCAUSTO POMADA – “Brain Cell Genocide” LP
Total fucking hateful skate-core straight from the mean streets of sunny Mallorca, Spain! These seven tracks were recorded over ten years ago (presumably in a pleasantly drunken haze) as a collaboration between two members of the Mallorca punk band BAD TASTE and Portland´s ambassador to the world Kelly H. (who´s been in every band ever). This shit is raw, fast and totally in love with POISON IDEA and Pomada (apparently a local concoction of gin and lemon juice that I need a bottle of, stat!). Lyrics cover poop, drinking and hating tourists, with a special emphasis on hating the fuck out of tourist, as the included cartoon of local punks puking on a tourist family so aptly demonstrates. I´d like to see this band (fat chance) but I´d be just a happy just getting shitfaced with ´em. Too bad this is just a project band, because they´d be huge. “I´m Against It!” is a fucking classic snotty hardcore song. (AU)
